Memorial Message:
ASHTABULA - Jean A. Loomis, 72, of Crown St., died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at UHHS Brown Memorial Hospital. Born in Conneaut on January 23, 1932, the daughter of the late Roland H. and Amy (Knapp) Downing, she had resided here her entire life. Mrs. Loomis was employed by the Conneaut Area City Schools for 28 years as the head cashier and bookkeeper for the cafeteria. She also served as treasurer of the Non-classified employees union. She served as president of the PTA and was also president of the Child Guidance Mothers' Club. She was a member of the East Conneaut United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. Mrs. Loomis was actively involved with her children and grandchildren where she served as a Girl Scout leader, PTA President, scorekeeper for the High School girls softball team and Booster Club member. She especially enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. She is survived by her husband, Claude M., to whom she had been married for the past 54 years; Two daughters, Amy (Robert) McClintock of Conneaut, and Susanne Loomis of Boston, MA; a son, Claude R. Butch (Nancy) Loomis of Conneaut; seven Grandchildren, Robert McClintock, Jodie Pape, Sally Ann Campbell, Jeff McClintock, and Natalie, Claudia and Erika Loomis; Five great-grandchildren, Hunter McClintock, Nathan Pape, Kaylin McClintock, Howie Campbell, and Jozlyne Pape; and a sister, Janet Smith of North Carolina. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Beatrice Atkins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Thompson- Smith Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Conneaut, with the Rev. Charles Graham, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Following cremation, interment will be in the East Conneaut Cemetery.
